A lacerated kidney will force Chicago Bears running back Garrett Wolfe to miss the remainder of the season, the team confirmed Friday. Wolfe suffered the injury on Nov. 8 versus Arizona, and he was hospitalized for the next few days. Still, the Bears were optimistic Wolfe would be able to return in 2009. It’s becoming pathetic. In the Thursday Night game against the 49ers, Cutler threw five — FIVE — interceptions. He’s thrown seventeen so far this season. How are we supposed to win games when our QB basically hands the other team the ball? Having just signed an expensive extension for him, it feels like an incredibly slap in the face. If this is what we have to look forward to for the next three seasons, then we’re in for a very, very long three seasons. But what do we do? How do we fix this? Do we suck it up, eat the $30mm and hope that this is merely a fluke for the season? Or do we trade Cutler away at the end of the season? We’re 4-5, below .500. But is there a clear answer? We need changes, but what kind? Does anyone have an ideas? How do we save the Bears? The Bears face off against the San Fransisco 49ers at Candlestick Park tonight. Both teams need a win tonight to keep themselves in to hunting for a playoff spot! NFL.com has details for tonight’s match up. Kick off is at 8:20 on the NFL Network. The Bears initially announced Wolfe’s ailment as a back injury. Lovie Smith will meet the media at 3 p.m. ET, and may shed some more light on the injuries to Wolfe, Charles Tillman and Al Afalava. Chicago Bears Sports Memorabilia Who is Jay Cutler? Do you know? Do you have any real sense of the most-spotlighted athlete in our city at this time? Derrick Rose, without question the other leading athlete celeb in town, is an open book, a veritable billboard of information and self-revelation compared to Cutler. Patrick Kane, who is moving up the chart with a bullet, is moderately chatty and lightly provocative, even when dealing with taxi-driver misfortunes. But Cutler, the long-term and very wealthy face of our franchise sports team — the Bears rule and always will rule in a city of broad shoulders — has been here more than a half-year, yet it’s as though he hasn’t been here at all except for the football games, the eight-second sound bites and the often-blank-faced or seemingly irritated looks during officially sanctioned media moments.

Devin Hester missed practice yesterday with an injury to his ankle, which came during a screen pass against the Bear’s win over the Browns last Sunday, the Chicago Breaking Sports News, is reporting. He is anticipated to have the swelling in his ankle down enough to play Sunday’s game against the Cardinals. With several Bears players already limited due to injuries, it would sting to add yet another name to the list. |
